Description
Megamentin 375 is an oral drug that is manufactured by the company Intas Pharmaceuticals. This product contains a combination of two drugs. These include the beta-lactamase inhibitor Potassium Clavulanate and the antibiotic Amoxicillin, which jointly kills bacteria. The drug is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections of the ear, sinus, throat, lung, urinary tract, skin, teeth, joints, and bones. It is frequently used to treat acne, which is a common skin condition caused by bacteria in the skin.
Benefits of taking Augmentin
Together, the many components of the drug can successfully destroy the bacteria that cause diseases because each component acts differently. The purpose of Amoxicillin is to stop the development of bacteria. It accomplishes this by preventing the development of the protective layer that is necessary for bacteria to survive. Potassium Clavulanate is responsible for lowering the resistance of bacteria and also increasing the activity of Amoxicillin.
How to take Augmentin
Depending on how severe the infection that you are trying to treat is, the required dosage of the drug is normally 750-1125mg per day (2-3 tablets taken evenly spaced apart throughout the day). Use the drug until all signs of infection are completely gone. If you stop the drug too soon, some bacteria may still be present and develop a resistance to it.
Amoxicillin & Potassium side effects
One of the common side effects from the use of the drug is stomach upset but this can be avoided by taking the drug with food. Some other adverse effects are nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, which should stop once you stop using of the drug.
