Ekovir 400 is an oral antibiotic which is manufactured by John Lee Pharmaceutical Company. Acyclovir is the drug’s active ingredient. This antiviral drug is used in medicine to treat viral infections such as shingles, chickenpox, and herpes simplex virus infections.
Off-label, the drug is occasionally used with the steroid Prednisolone to treat Bell’s palsy. Acyclovir is also often used to alleviate post-injection pain (PIP) and inflammation brought on by steroid injections, as well as to reduce the look of steroid acne.

The drug is administered every four hours for best results (5 times per day). Typical dosages include:
For five days, take 200mg (half a tablet) every four hours to treat acne and skin irritation.
200mg (half a tablet) every four hours for ten days for genital herpes.
For a maximum of 12 months, use one tablet of 400mg for herpes prevention.
800 mg (2 tablets) every four hours for seven to ten days for Shingles.
For chickenpox, take 800mg (2 tablets) four times daily for five days (as soon as symptoms develop).
While using this drug, it is strongly advised to drink a lot of water and cut back on calcium intake.
Side effects of Acyclovir
Nausea and diarrhea are Acyclovir’s minor adverse reactions. Low platelets and renal issues are possible adverse effects that could be more severe. Those with impaired liver or renal function should use the drug with extreme caution.
